Day 7 – Hike to Cape Beale
We purposely stayed a few more extra days so we could hike to the Cape Beale Lighthouse (and also wait for Chris’s friend Billy to pick us up on Saturday instead of taking the expensive West Coast Trail Bus to Port Renfrew). We first heard about this lighthouse in a travel brochure a few years back when we did a Tofino trip together. So this was another dream come true. However, this dream was not realized.

Weather looking very miserable
We woke up to a very wet morning. We weren’t sure if we were going to hike this thing but we decided to do it anyways. The trail to Cape Beale was brutal. It was supposed to be a 7 KM hike from the main trailhead to see the lighthouse. We only made it to Tapaltos Bay, which was about 3 KM in. So it took about 2 hours to hike 3 KM! The weather was also miserable and raining harder. We decided to stop at the beach and just have lunch which consisted of muffins and other left over snacks. So in the battle of Man vs. Nature…..Nature wins!
