The Season of Gluttony

13 04 2009

For the past few weeks I have been working at another public accounting firm, McPherson, Flanagan, Fletcher (MFF). It is a small firm with a little over 10 people. I have been shipped here for the time being since I need 100 hours of tax experience to become a CA. Since the place where I am articling (Auditor General) does not specialize in any tax work, they send students out to local firms for their tax experience. Some firms will also send students to us for their audit hours as part of the exchange. I will be at MFF for a total of 6 weeks which is a lot more than most other students. I will be here until the end of tax season which is April 30th. What this firm prides itself on is their “Season of Gluttony”. Every year each person from the firm will take turns bringing in a treat (every second day) to help cope with tax season. So far, the treats have been out of this world. People have been bringing in nachos, baked goods, veggie platter, fruit planner, strawberries covered in chocolate, lemon meringue pie, burritos, cookies, and more! My turn will be on the 15th. I have yet to decide what to bring but I was thinking some sort of Asian theme.
