Inside Cartagena

I had a chance to check out some of the famous sites in Cartagena including the great Spanish fortress Castillo de San Felipe De Barajas and Cerro de la Popa, the highest point in Cartagena which used to be a monastery. The views from these two places are amazing. I wish I was here during the sunset though, it would´ve been great. I had no trouble getting to San Felipe as it was about a 10 minute walk from my hostel. Cerro de la Popa was a different story. The walk to the base of the hill is about a 25 minute walk from the city. When I got there, there were guys telling me not to hike to the top or else I might get robbed. Fair enough, I decided not to take any chances and opted to take a motorbike taxi up to the top. The museum inside wasn’t at all interesting but the views of the city was just spectacular. I think I stayed up there longer than anyone else just admiring the view. Anyways, the same guy that brought me up also brought me down. This time, he wanted to charge me extra since he had to wait for me at the top. I said no way and just paid him the same amount.
